Brazil: Opposition Seeks President's Impeachment
  • 8 years ago
Attempts by Brazil's right-wing opposition to oust President Dilma Rousseff moved forward yesterday when the speaker of the lower house of Congress, Eduardo Cunha, began impeachment proceedings against her. Cunha himself faces impeachment on corruption charges. Rousseff is accused of manipulating government accounts to mask budget shortfalls. The impeachment request now goes to a committee which will determine whether to hold a trial. teleSUR
