What do we know about the attackers behind the San Bernardino shooting rampage?

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY — After Wednesday's deadly rampage at a developmental disability center in Southern California that killed at least 14 people, people were quick to point an accusatory finger abroad and suggest a link to international terrorism.
While that link is still being investigated, law enforcement officials have identified one of the gunmen as an American citizen — Syed Rizwan Farook.
According to a police press conference on Wednesday night, Farook is a 28-year-old environmental health inspector with San Bernardino County and had been employed as an inspector with the county for five years. His department had booked the conference room at Inland Regional Center for the Christmas party, which was brutally attacked during Wednesday morning's rampage.
The attacker was also apparently a new father, having recently returned from paternity leave, according to an interview the Los Angeles Times conducted with Farook's former colleague.
The female attacker who fled from the scene of the shooting with Farook, Tashfeen Malik, was reportedly engaged or married to Farook and has a baby registry at Target. According to the registry, the baby was due on May 17 this year.
The 27-year-old Malik, along with Farook, were killed during a police shootout in a residential area.
There was some confusion on Wednesday as to which of the two Syed R. Farooks in San Bernardino County was the shooter, and some media outlets incorrectly reported that Syed Raheel Farook, a business taxes representative, was the culprit.
