SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA — A shooting took place shortly after 11 a.m. on December 2 in San Bernardino, California, at a center for people with developmental disabilities.

Police say the assailants were wearing dark, tactical-style gear. It's believed there may have been at least two attackers, with a third suspected.

Using long guns, the gunmen opened fire on people in the building. The number of people at the scene during the shooting is not clear. The Inland Regional Center staffs 670 people between two facilities in San Bernardino and Riverside.

Preliminary reports indicate at least 17 to 20 people sustained injuries during the shooting. In addition to the wounded, officials confirm 14 people were killed during the assault.

The latest reports reveal police have managed to take down two attackers in a shootout — a man and a woman. Police say a third suspect seen running away from the gun battle has now been detained.
