Man kills roommate for turning into zombie, blames The Walking Dead

GRANTS, NEW MEXICO — It's no secret that The Walking Dead has some crazy fans, but one New Mexico man went ballistic after thinking the zombie apocalypse was upon him.
According to KOAT 7, police were called to an apartment in the town of Grants after receiving reports that a woman was being chased by a man wielding a knife. They found the man in question being restrained by two maintenance workers in the doorway of his apartment, and discovered the body of his roommate inside.
The suspect, 23-year-old Damon Perry, claimed he was drinking with his roommate, Christopher Paquin, while binge-watching cable show The Walking Dead on Netflix. Perry told authorities his roommate turned into a zombie and tried to bite him, leading him to attack Paquin with punches and kicks, then beat him with an electric guitar and a microwave, before stabbing him with a kitchen knife.
Perry then ran out wielding the knife and began chasing neighbors until someone called 911. Reuters reports that Perry is being held on murder charges with a cash-only bond of $800,000. Grants Police Detective Moses Marquez has said the incident was one of the "weirdest and most gruesome" homicides he has ever seen.
