Colombia: Peñalosa Elected Mayor of Bogota

Center-right candidate Enrique Peñalosa was elected mayor of Bogota in yesterday's regional and local elections, ending 12 years of left-wing rule in the country's capital and largest city. Peñalosa had been mayor of Bogota 15 years ago. In second and third place were Rafael Pardo with 28% and Clara Lopez of the left-wing Democratic Pole with 18%. Lopez, in conceding defeat, accused the media of waging a smear campaign against her. teleSUR
