US: 50 Million Living in Poverty

An estimated 50 million people in the U.S. are living in poverty, the overwhelming majority of whom reside in households characterized as experiencing "food insecurity". Breadwinners holding more than one job is still insufficient to guarantee food security for their families given the high cost of rent. A Gallup study reports that a family of four needs US$58,000 annually to get by, more than twice the income defining the poverty line. Bianca Perez reports from Washington. teleSUR
