Despite a long spell of controversies and communal hatred owing to the beef and meat ban, it seems that politicians have failed to divide the two communities. Giving a befitting reply to the political class, the Muslim community in Maharashtra has come forward to help drought-affected farmers. The Social Education and Welfare Association (SEWA), which is an umbrella body of organisations working for Muslims across the state donated Rs 27 lakh from its funds to needy farmer families.
