Surat: Detention of Hardik Patel, leader of Patidar Andolan Samiti agitating for reservation for the community, by police in Surat triggered high tension and unrest with several incidents of clashes and police lathi-charge in the entire State, forcing the authorities to deploy state reserve police and para military forces and suspend Internet services on mobile across the State. Hardik Patel was detained as he took out 'Ekta Yatra' even as he was denied permission for the same by the authorities. Later late at night, he was freed on bail by a court.
