Scientists Shot Pigs In The Face During Dubious Experiment

Details of a grisly experiment recently came to light and have animal rights groups furious and wondering why it was approved in the first place.

Scientists in New Zealand are being criticized for experiments said to be cruel and indefensible, according to Radio New Zealand.
In 2009, 19 pigs were shot in the face at point blank range in order to better understand backspatter that results from an entrance wound—five of the pigs were alive when they were shot.
The live pigs were sedated and strapped down to a table before having their heads shaved and the remainder of their hair removed by a rash-inducing cream.
