An Air Canada pilot noted a cargo area heating system malfunction on aircraft he was flying, so he rerouted the plane to save the life of a dog.

The cargo areas of planes often have heating systems, but when they're not working properly, temperatures can quickly dip below the freezing point.
When an Air Canada pilot saw there was a heating malfunction on the aircraft he was flying from Tel Aviv to Toronto, he rerouted the plane to save the life of a dog traveling in the cargo area.

The issue was noticed just before the flight was to begin the long trek across the Atlantic Ocean.
