Gov't says no to GST referendum
Minister in the Prime Minister Department Nazri Abdul Aziz today shot down calls for a referendum on the controversial Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill.

"Referendum is not the way to solve this issue, that is what the parliament is for," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

The de facto law minister warned that if the government allowed a referendum on the GST, it would open the floodgates for referendums on other matters.
