Ecuador – Correa Adopts Measures to Fight Smuggling

In Ecuador, President Rafael Correa has implemented protective measures at the border with Colombia. He said that the situation is tough due to the involvement of smugglers from Colombia in cross-border contraband of gasoline and other products. Correa cited the Colombian currency devaluation as one of the main reasons for the rise in smuggling along the border.
