Solar Flyby Of International Space Station Caught In Stunning Image

NASA photographer Bill Ingalls caught an image that shows the International Space Station moving past the face of the sun.

A NASA photographer recently produced a stunning image of the International Space Station crossing in front of the fiery face of the sun.

Small black shapes dot the smoldering orange globe in silhouette; their backwards-E-like appearance is the far-off outline of the space station making a solar pass. 

There are presently nine astronauts and cosmonauts on board the orbiting space station and laboratory. They hail from Russia, Japan, Denmark, Kazakhstan and the United States.
