Police State: BBQ smoke can’t ‘leave your property’ says Pinellas County, Florida - TomoNews
PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA — Smoke from a barbecue grill must stay within your property? Evidently that is the case in Pinellas County, Florida where a recent video showing a self-proclaimed County official responding to a “nuisance call” regarding barbecue smoke is going viral.
In the video, an unidentified official speaks with several unidentified men telling them that if he can smell their barbecue smoke on the street it is against local ordinances. The flabbergasted men ask how they are supposed to control wind, to which the unidentified official responds that they could purchase some sort of smoke reduction device or the like, negating the fact that humans have been barbecuing meat outdoors for millennia and unlike cigarette smoke, there is no legitimate reason to ban outdoor cooking.
The response on Twitter has been overwhelmingly in favor of the barbecue enthusiasts, with users calling the county ordinance “fascist” and finding it hard to believe that this entire video is not a joke.
