ETANA live @ Main Stage 2015

With her first two CDs, ‘The strong one’ and ‘Free expressions’, Etana has shown to be one of the great hopes for Jamaican music. Her force is in her beautiful voice charged with gospel, in her great talent as a composer with lyrics that confront the contradictory reality that is Jamaica and her capacity to intertwine reggae with other genre such as soul or pop.

She put us in a trance with her combo alongside Alborosie in ‘Blessings’, the sweet hymn to love that made number one in Jamaica in 2009, but also singing about the crude reality of the ghetto in ‘August Town’. These works were followed by ‘Better Tomorrow’ (2013), recorded in the legendary Tuff Gong studio in Kingston, as was ‘I Rise’ (2014), with VP Records.

The artistic production of this last album was directed by the legendary Jamaican producer and multi-instrumentalist Clive Hunt, who among other achievements, has worked with Byron Lee & The Dragonaires, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Peter Tosh, Rolling Stones, The Wailers, Grace Jones, Jimmy Cliff and many more.
