ESPN Apologizes to Patriots over False Report

An unusual moment happened at 12:20 a.m. ET on August 20th. ESPN apologized to the New England Patriots over something that happened over 13 years ago. It’s no secret the Patriots are being hammered by critics outside of New England while the DeflateGate scandal unfolds. Commentators on ESPN often reference SpyGate—the other scandal where the Patriots were punished for filming the New York Jets’ defensive signals on the sideline during a game in 2007. But there is another allegation that dates all the way back to New England’s first Super Bowl victory back in February 2002.
