Their release marked the official start of the 21st annual Rubber Ducky Regatta.
The event is organized by the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and since its 1994 inception has raised over $600,000.
Those interested in participating buy a duck for $5, and if theirs is one of first to cross the finish line, they are lushly rewarded with valuable prizes.
