Public Transportation Grinds to Halt in San Salvador to a Halt

A public transportation work stoppage enforced by criminal gangs seeking favored treatment and perks from the government has brought the Salvadoran capital of San Salvador to a halt. The Maras criminal gang said that if they find buses running they would kill the drivers and indeed seven drivers were killed on Monday. Many feel that right-wing opposition sectors are behind the violence, seeking to destabilize President Salvador Sanchez Ceren's government. Gerardo Torres reports. teleSUR
