New Horizons Makes History With Flyby Of Pluto
- 9 years ago
NASA’s New Horizons made history with its scheduled flyby of Pluto Tuesday morning. Now, scientists are waiting to re-engage with the spacecraft after an expected period of blackout.
Right after New Horizons' scheduled flyby of Pluto today, NASA posted a tweet, "YES! After over 9 years & 3+ billion miles, @NASANewHorizons #PlutoFlyby was at 7:49am ET."
As expected the probe was silent during the flyby since it can't record such a high volume of data and communicate with Earth simultaneously.
NASA officials expect to get their first signal after the fly
