Indonesia Executions: Relatives of death-row convicts beg for mercy

Indonesia has put on notice 10 prisoners convicted of drug trafficking for execution in the next 72 hours. The pending executions have caused an outcry internationally, especially in Australia, France, and the Philippines that are opposed to the death penalty. Friends and family of the convicts have also joined the protest and begged the officials for mercy. Indonesian officials have notified that the executions will be carried out despite appeals by the UN chief and foreign leaders to spare them.

A 72-hour notice was given out indicating that the executions by firing squad in Besi prison on Nusakambangan Island will be carried out at the earliest on Tuesday or Wednesday.
