Students preparing for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams which begin on March 3 are risking their lives just to find a peaceful place to study. While, it is now legal for Mumbaikars to party all night, surprisingly, city students wanting to burn the midnight oil have nowhere to go. There are no all-night study centres, libraries, forcing students to use abandoned railway tracks, caves, terraces as their study rooms. Over 3.82 lakh students from the city will appear for the SSC exams, while 3.18 are writing the ongoing HSC exams.
The “Abhyas Galli” meaning study lane is one such spot which lacks basic facilities but still remains a favourite among students due to its pin-drop silence. Nestled between Podar Hospital and Kamgar, this road has become a preparation ground for students who seek to give wings to their dreams.
