Spanish Village Called 'Camp Kill Jews' Changes Its Name

A small village in Spain has officially changed its name to ‘Jews’ Hill Camp’. It had previously been known as ‘Camp Kill Jews’.

A small village in Spain has officially changed its name to 'Castrillo Mota de Judios' which translates to ‘Jews’ Hill Camp' in English.

It had previously been known as 'Castrillo Matajudios' or  ‘Camp Kill Jews’. 

In 2014, the town’s 50 or so residents voted to drop the name, which had been in use since 1627. 

It’s believed residents back then adopted it as a means of showing their loyalty to Spain and their adherence to the country’s decree that Judaism be rejected.  

Beginning in 1492, the ruling forces demanded that Jews living in the country convert to Catholicism or live elsewhere.
