With regards to the racist murder of nine people in a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, teleSUR interviewed local writer, and activist Kevin Alexander Gray, who spoke highly of Pastor Clementa Pinckney, one of the people killed. This symbol of black pride was a logical target for the avowed practitioner of white supremacy who took his life, said Gray. The writer also referred to the history of the famous African Methodist Episcopal church where the killing took place. The church was founded by Denmark Vesey, who tried to organize a slave rebellion before the Civil War. teleSUR
