Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halki survived a bomb attack that was targeted at his convoy in Mezze district, in central Damascus, on Monday. Syrian state television reported that the prime minister was not injured and went into a meeting with an economic committee straight after the bombing.
It was reported that an improvised explosive device was placed under a car that was parked in the area and was detonated from a distance when al-Halki's car drove by.
This attack was not the first targeting at high officials in Damascus in the past year.
