A woman narrowly escaped death after almost being hit by a speeding train at a railway crossing in the Netherlands.

In footage released as part of a safety awareness campaign by Dutch rail company ProRail, the woman can be seen following a group of people that had successfully crossed the train tracks in time to beat the barrier.

The unidentified woman is next seen taking her time as she ducks under the barrier just as a train making its way south to Eindhoven at high speeds is about to pass.

Spotting the train mid-way through her attempted crossing, she pulls back and just narrowly escapes with her life.
