Final destination: Chinese student crushed to death by university elevator

On September 14th at around 5:50pm, a Chinese student majoring in architecture became stuck in an elevator at Huaqiao University in Xiamen.
As the was entering the elevator, it didn’t stop but continued moving upwards, trapping him between the elevator and the floor.
The student is then slowly crushed to death before rescuers can free him.
After receiving a call about the incident at 5:50pm, security services rushed to the scene.
The rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly afterwards, and 35 minutes after the incident took place they managed to open the elevator, but found the student had no vital signs.
At around 8:49pm, his body was transported off campus and his parents arrived at 9pm. The police and supervising authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
