An 11-year-old school boy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was crushed to death in an elevator accident in his apartment building, local media reported. According to Malaysian media, the boy was returning home from school and stepped into a lift with about 17 other people. The lift became stuck for about 45 minutes between the second and third floors. The inner doors of the lift were open and the outer doors of the third floor elevator well were also open. The boy, whose grandmother lived on the third floor, attempted to climb out of the elevator and on to the third floor. He only managed to fit his head out of the elevator before the newly-installed lift suddenly dropped, crushing his head between the ceiling of the elevator and the third floor. Rescue crews arrived about 15 minutes later to evacuate the other lift passengers.
