A Jonesboro Arkansas police officer shot and killed a man Tuesday after being sliced with a machete while trying to take the suspect into custody, according to a KAIT report.

It all started around 9:00 p.m. When police arrive at the home of 31-year-old Christopher Grant Finley, he was standing in the front yard screaming with a baseball bat in hand.

When officers arrived, Finley retreated into the house. He emerged just before midnight but tried to run back inside once again when officers approached.

One of the officers pursued Finley and that’s when the machete attack occured.

The officer fired several shots through the door, but it was unclear Finley was wounded until after 1:00 a.m. and cleared the scene, officials said in a statement released to media.
