Mexico migration: police free 92 kidnapped migrants from safe house in Reynosa, Mexico - TomoNews

Mexican police rescued 92 kidnapped migrants from a safe house in the border town of Reynosa during a raid on Friday.

The safe house was located in Reynosa, a town just across the border from the Texan city of McAllen on Friday. Three suspected gang members were arrested, while 92 migrants were freed in the operation. Six of the rescued migrants were children.

Threatened by the suspects, the captives had been forced to call their families and ask for a ransom.

The captives came from Cuba, Brazil, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. Human rights groups say that the route into the United States via Reynosa is one of the most dangerous.

It is unclear which criminal organisation was behind the kidnappings, but authorities have said that the Gulf Cartel is active in Reynosa.
