Bakersfield clowns: Wasco clown copycats causing cops commotion

Looks like people in Bakersfield have way too much time on their hands. The Bakersfield police have been dealing with an increasing number of reports of people being freaked out by creepy clowns standing in public holding machetes and baseball bats.
Bakersfield police were called to another clown sighting on Saturday night to a neighborhood near West High school, but found nothing.
One 14-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of annoying a minor after taking the prank too far. Authorities said he dressed as a clown and chased some children down the street, leaving one of them “visibly shaken.”
The teen admitted to copying the “Wasco Clown” that has shown up on social media recently. The Wasco Clown is apparently a wife and husband art project. The wife made the clown and her husband was her subject for the month of October.
Sgt. Joseph Grubbs of the Bakersfield police said that authorities are taking the clown reports seriously because it could turn into something more dangerous. As of last Friday, the Bakersfield police had received 16 reports of clowns carrying weapons.
"We will make arrests on this," Grubbs said. "We want this to stop."
