Train Accident: Man sent flying by oncoming train as he attempted to illegally cross tracks

Last week in Hualien, along the eastern coast of Taiwan, a man was struck and killed while crossing the train tracks.

It was approximately 8pm, when Mr. Wen apparently attempted to drive across the tracks on his motorcycle.

A passenger train, carrying 300 people, struck him and sent him and his bike flying through the air to land 20 meters away.

The conductor of the train said that since it was dark, he did not see Mr. Wen until it was too late to react.

None of the passengers were injured and police said Mr. Wen most likely died from the initial impact with the train.

The authorities also state that drivers should heed warning lights and blasts from the train’s horn. Drivers should not risk crossing train tracks when warning lights are on, especially at night.
