American Eagle murder: former employees kill manager at Fort Worth location for keys to rob store

Newly released court documents detail a gruesome murder plot to kill the assistant manager at an American Eagle clothing store in Fort Worth, Texas.
The victim, 31-year-old Ashlea Harris, had worked with Clarence David Mallory, 19, and Carter Carol Cervantes, 25, at the Hulen Mall branch of American Eagle Outfitters. As assistant manager, Harris was entrusted with taking care of the cash in the store safe.
In August, Cervantes and Mallory stole clothing and nearly $18,000 from the store, and Harris turned them over to the police.
The two later hatched a scheme to rob their former workplace again during Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year, when they’d be sure to make out with a fortune. But first they’d need the keys to the store.
So they headed over to their former manager’s home and beat and burned her to get the keys. Harris later died.
The pair were caught on security video wrestling with the locks on the store’s gate, which had been changed. The two have been charged with capital murder.
