Child Bride: Mother in China attempts to marry 13YO girl to her almost 30YO son

In Yunnan, police received a call from a 13 -year-old girl claiming she’d been sold by her parents.
The girl, nicknamed Lily, had traveled several thousand miles with the parents of her future husband. The girl was told by her future mother-in-law, surnamed Chen, that her future husband was only 5-6 years older than Lily.
However, after Lily arrived in Yunnan she discovered that her husband- to- be was 16 years her senior! Disgusted and panicked the teenager called the police and said she’d been sold as a child bride.
Things became clearer during questioning, Lily admitted she knew she was traveling to meet a potential husband and she hadn’t been sold by her parents. And Mrs. Chen admitted that she had probably smudged the truth a little when she said her unmarried son was only a little older than the 13-year-old bride. After all, she was just a mother desperate to see her son get married and settle down with a nice girl.
The 29 year old son had no idea his mother was that desperate.
After four days, Lily’s grandparents finally collected her from social services and the police have advised Chen to let her son find his own bride.
