Emergency landing: cabin fills with smoke on Delta flight, forcing landing at LaGuardia Airport

A passenger plane operating as a Delta connection from Rochester made an emergency landing at LaGuardia Airport Monday afternoon after smoke filled the cabin, according to the Port Authority.

Shuttle America Flight 3377, which was carrying 42 passengers and three crew members, made the landing at about 3:30 p.m.

The plane was evacuated and passengers were taken by bus to the Delta terminal, Pix 11 reported. Emergency crews then had the plane be towed to the gate.

"The 50-seat Embraer 145 aircraft landed safely. Out of an abundance of caution, customers deplaned onto the tarmac and were taken into the terminal via bus. Safety is always the top priority on every flight," a Delta spokesperson said in a statement.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
