American Airlines accident: emergency evacuation after smoke fills cabin of Charlotte-Denver flight

Passengers on board an American Airlines flight were evacuated on Wednesday after smoke was seen in the cabin.

American Airlines Flight 445 was flying from Charlotte to Denver with 158 passengers on board.

The plane, an Airbus A321, landed at Denver International Airport. As it was taxiing to the gate, smoke was seen in the cockpit, local NBC affiliate KUSA reported. Passengers also saw and smelled smoke in the cabin.

“It got pretty smoky. I mean me I’m not one to really panic over minor stuff, but it was enough where I wanted to put my shirt over my face because it was kind of a foul smell and awkward odor,” passenger Brooks Robinson said in an interview with ABC News.

Everyone on board was safely evacuated using emergency slides.

Three people were slightly injured in the incident. An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway, but authorities have already ruled out fire as the cause.
