A 17-year-old football player from Carson High School in Southern California was killed early Monday while playing a deadly game of Russian roulette, according to a KTLA report.

The teen was hanging out with several friends and family members when he pulled out a loaded gun. As his family begged him to stop, the boy shot himself, waking up other family members who were in the home.

The teen was transported to UCLA hospital across the street from the apartment complex, where he was later pronounced dead.

No one was arrested in connection with the shooting. At midday, sheriff's officials said they were attempting to determine to whom the gun was registered and how the teen had obtained the weapon.
