Brooklyn ISIS terror plot: FBI arrests three for trying to join Islamic State group

U.S. authorities announced the arrest on Wednesday of three Brooklyn men allegedly plotting to join ISIS, according to a Reuters report.

The suspects, all of three of whom lived in Brooklyn, were identified as Akhror Saidakhmetov, 19, a Kazakh national, and Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, 24, and Abror Habibov, 30, both from Uzbekistan.

Saidakhmetov was arrested early on Wednesday at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport attempting to travel to Turkey en route to Syria.

Police allege the suspects discussed carrying out attacks in the US, including shooting police officers and planting a bomb on New York's Coney Island seaside resort.

One of the them even allegedly offered to kill President Obama.

While authorities say a legitimate homegrown threat was minimal, the three men’s attempt to join ISIS in Syria was very much real.
