Gazans Rally in Support of Political Prisoners in Israeli Jails

The Islamic resistance movement Hamas, which is in power in the Gaza Strip, held a rally in the beleaguered Palestinian enclave in solidarity with the more than 6,500 political prisoners currently held in Israeli jails. Other local political currents also participated in the protest, which demanded improved prison conditions, such as family visits and an end to solidarity confinement, and called on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to intervene with Israeli authorities to allow prisoners exiled to Gaza to return to their homes in the occupied West Bank.
