Teen Helps Save Police Officer's Life Who Was Booking Him

Three police officers and a teenager in Fort Lauderdale will be publicly honored on Wednesday, January 21st for an incident that happened in September.

Amidst all the negative stories relating to police, here's one that had en entirely different outcome.

Back in September of last year, the teen, Jamal Rutledge, was being booked at Fort Lauderdale Police Department by Officer Franklin Foulks. Rutledge was in the midst of getting charged with criminal mischief, burglary and violation of probation.

Officer Foulks was sitting on a stool filling out paperwork when he suddenly fell backwards and hit the floor. He was moving, but seemed to be unable to get up.

Rutledge was sitting across the room and got up to check on the officer. He realized something was wrong, but couldn’t do much to physically help because his hands were cuffed behind his back.
