The 21-year-old victim, identified as Brian McClellen, of Ohio was discovered in the early morning hours of Sunday when the train lost power and stalled at a station in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Local police say there was an electric explosion. Crew members were attempting to determine the cause of the power outage when they witnessed McClellen on top of the train.

According to an MTA spokesman, McClellen was doused with a fire extinguisher before being transported to Westchester Medical Center. Tragically, he passed away as a result of his injuries.

Crews shut down the overhead power lines while the problem was inspected and the rescue efforts were underway. Approximately 20 passengers were onboard at the time of the incident.

They were all transferred to another train. The train involed in this case is currently being examined for mechanical issues.

According to reports, McClellen may have been ‘train surfing’ when he was electrocuted by the arm that transfers electrical currents.

Officials from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority are investigating the incident.
