Italian and Swiss police recover valuable stolen artworks

Police in Italy and Switzerland have combined to recover stolen artworks worth around 15 million euros.

They included a Caravaggio school painting attributed to Batistello Caracciolo, a rare Roman sarcophagus and some 1,300 archaeological finds.

Some of the works had been stolen from churches and the investigations focused on a number of collectors.
