FSc Chemistry Book2, CH 13, LEC 3, From Alkane Nitriles

This video lecture from Carboxylic Acids (F.Sc. second year Chemistry) covers the preparation of carboxylic acids from alkane nitriles or cyano alkanes. The cyanide group behaves similar to carbonyl group and gives Nucleophilic addition reactions. Hydrolysis of a nitriles hence gives a carboxylic acid with a higher number of carbon atom (since carbon of cyanide turns into that of carboxyl group).
