Radical cleric Abu Qatada cleared of terror charges by Jordanian court

The radical cleric Abu Qatada was found not guilty of terrorism charges in a Jordanian court on Wednesday.
The Muslim cleric had been accused of supporting a plan to carry out terror attacks on Americans and Israelis during millennium celebrations in Jordan.
He was extradited from Britain last year after a long legal process and an agreement that Jordan would not use evidence which could have been obtained under torture. Jordan’s state security court respected the ruling and said there was not enough evidence to convict him.
The cleric was expected to be freed within a few hours.
While living in the UK, the cleric issued rulings justifying suicide bombings.
Britain’s Home Office has said he will not be allowed back into the country.
