WEB USERS REACT TO OBAMA’S SPEECH ON IS ORGANISATION

In a solemn address to the nation on Wednesday September 10, Barack Obama announced an escalated US military role against Islamic State militants in Syria, and continued air strikes on the terrorist group in Iraq. The American president also said although he would not be sending troops to fight on the ground as yet, the US was committed to helping any army fighting the Jihadi organization. The speech has stirred up lively debate online.
Many have posted under the #ObamaSpeech hashtag on social networks, commenting on the US president`s announcement. While some seem happy with what he had to say, and approve of the proposed measures aimed at wiping out Islamic State activity in Iraq and Syria, others have their reservations as to just how successful the military intervention will be. The people who wrote these Twitter posts say Barack Obama is sending US soldiers off to fight another war, with no certainty on how and when it will finish. Some say the head of state is following in the footsteps of his predecessor George W. Bush, by getting involved in a war he may not be able to win.
