Recently, travel lanes along the 110 Freeway in California had to be shut down. Police were dispatched to the section of highway after a report came in regarding a tire.

It had bounced from the southbound lanes before traveling over a median and venturing across the northbound ones. The tire eventually struck a Los Angeles School Police Department vehicle.

It broke the auto’s windshield and ripped through a portion of the roof. At the time of the incident, the affected vehicle was being driven by a school police officer.

The staffer encountered minor injuries as a result and had to be transported to a nearby hospital. California Highway Patrol officials say the tire came off a pickup truck at a little after 6 A.M.

The lanes were closed shortly after and an investigation into the occurrence was launched. They reopened right before 7 in the morning however commuters were already affected, as traffic was backed up for miles.
