Hungry Sharks Gather Around Sardines

Jonathan Hawkins was diving off the coast of Port St. Johns, South Africa, when he captured this footage of sharks preying on sardines during their summer run. In a blog post, Jonathan said the sardines had formed a “shark bait ball”, “bunching together in an attempt to appear as one uniform sea creature.” The annual run sees billions of sardines migrating northward along Africa’s eastern coast in May and July.
