The problem was that another passenger was using a product called the ‘Knee Defender’ which attaches to a tray table. The item is great for the person using it, but it’s not all that convenient for the individual sitting in front, as he or she in unable to recline their seat.
Because of that issue, an argument started on Flight 1462 from Newark, New Jersey to Denver. It’s not clear what exactly was said between the two passengers, but it got so bad that the airline made the decision to divert the plane to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
Reportedly, a 48-year-old male passenger was using the ‘Knee Defender’ to set up his laptop. The woman sitting in front of him wanted to recline but couldn’t because the device was in the way.
A flight attendant got involved and asked the man to remove the product but he refused to do so. The woman soon got up and tossed a cup of water on him.
When the plane landed in Chicago, both travelers got off. Neither one was allowed to continue on to Denver.
