Norwegian police recently arrested a man who was reportedly drunk while operating a Segway.

Segway scooters are quite popular around the world. Tourist guides, law enforcement officials, and others use them for differing purposes.

In what is thought to be a first for Norway, police in Oslo recently arrested a man who was reportedly drunk while operating a Segway.

The man was found driving around a restaurant area while appearing under the influence.

Witnesses had reportedly seen him acting strangely. The male was having a hard time balancing on the vehicle.

Cops arrived on scene and suspected he had been drinking. The results of a blood test to determine if he was indeed intoxicated are still pending.

The head of police stated “I really hope we're not risking having lots of drink-drivers on two-wheeled vehicles. These are treated like any other vehicle when it comes to the limit on blood alcohol.”

The possible DUI comes only a month after a ban on Segways was lifted in Norway. The roads administration said ‘self-balancing vehicles’ were unsafe but the government thinks they have the potential to ‘revolutionize traffic patterns.’
