A petrol station in Israel’s port city of Ashdod has been hit by a rocket launched from Gaza, causing a huge blaze.

Local public radio reported that several people had been injured.

Meanwhile it’s understood that  two rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into Israel on Friday morning. Video footage showed a hole in a road where one rocket had landed.

Israel retalliated by shelling the area, Lebanese security sources said.

It was unclear whether it was Hezbollah or a Palestinian faction who were behind the rockets.

Elsewhere, Israeli police said a house in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba was hit by a rocket on Thursday night.

There were no injuries reported.

Authorities say the Iron Dome defence system has prevented dozens of incoming rockets from landing.
