A 78-year-old veteran was badly beaten and robbed at a gas station in San Bernardino, California.
A 78-year-old veteran was badly beaten and robbed at a gas station in San Bernardino, California. The victim, John Faust says he stopped at the Shell station at around 4:15 the morning during his morning route to work.
While Faust put the gas cap back on his Toyota Tundra, two men walked into the parking lot and approached him. Faust had nowhere to go, as the armed suspects were on different sides of him and his truck and the gas pump blocked the remaining escape routes.
One of the men demanded Faust hand over his wallet but before he had a chance to respond, the other man punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground. The culprits then reached inside the veteran’s pockets and stole his wallet before fleeing the scene on foot.
Faust managed to pick himself off the ground after the assault. He encountered a ‘fractured skull, a blood clot to his brain and a broken nose’ resulting from the attack and spent four days in the hospital.
He hopes to return to work next week. Police are still searching for the suspects.
